Kyogle Council is developing a new Disability Inclusion Action Plan and wants to hear from people with disability, carers, families, support people, service providers and community members across the Kyogle Local Government Area.The plan will guide practical action over the next four years to make Council services, information, facilities, employment and community life more accessible and inclusive.Tell us what is working well, the barriers you experience and the changes you believe Council should prioritise.
About the project
A Disability Inclusion Action Plan, or DIAP, is a four-year plan describing the practical actions Council will take to improve access, inclusion and participation for people with disability. The new plan will look at barriers and opportunities across Council services and community life, including public places and facilities, information and customer service, employment, events and recreation, transport and local services, and emergency preparedness and recovery.
Some issues can be addressed directly by Council. Others may require Council to work with partners or advocate to other levels of government and service providers.
Who Council wants to hear from
Council particularly wants to hear directly from people with disability, carers, families and support people, as well as local service providers, community organisations, businesses and residents across Kyogle’s towns, villages and rural communities.You do not need an NDIS plan or a formal diagnosis to take part.
How feedback will be used
Council and its consultant, Spinal Life Australia / Sporting Wheelies, will review the feedback to identify common themes, local differences and practical priorities for the new Disability Inclusion Action Plan.

Review of feedback and creating draft Disability Inclusion Action Plan

Contributions to this consultation are closed for evaluation and review. The project team will report back on key outcomes through a report to Council at an upcoming meeting (tentatively scheduled for the 9 November 2026 Council meeting).
Public exhibition of draft DIAP

Council will place the draft DIAP on public exhibition for comment.
Adoption of Disability Inclusion Action Plan
this is an upcoming stage for Disability Inclusion Action Plan
After the public exhibition phase ends, Council will review any feedback and adopt the final version of the Disability Inclusion Action Plan. This is expected to take place in the first quarter of 2027.
